Donna Lou Nelson, age 86, of Lansing, Illinois, passed away peacefully Friday, November 3, 2023. Loving mother of Darlene K. (Jeffrey) Booker, Debra S. (Sherman) Wolf, Roger G. Nelson and Denise A. (Michael) Skrbina. Cherished grandmother of Amy (Sonny) Irwin, Catherine Reinsma, Jessica Toepfer, Michelle Booker, Jeffrey (Jessica) Booker, Zachary Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Joseph Skrbina and Benjamin Skrbina. Great grandmother of Daisy (Brandon) Grassmyer, Madison Irwin, Chloe Reinsma, Royce Hamende, Elli Smith, Evelyn Hamende, Jillian Booker, Sullivan Hamende, Jeffrey Booker, Emma Hargrove and Sabrina Skrbina. Great-great grandmother of Wesley Dinkins. Cherished sister of John (Marilyn) Kortenhoven and Margery (Richard) Perrott. Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph G. Nelson, parents, John and Anna Kortenhoven, and daughter, Darlene K. Booker.

Donna was a lifelong member of First Church PCA and cherished time with her family and camping with her husband. Donna enjoyed reading her Bible, doing crafts, sewing, crossword puzzles and time outdoors. Donna was a great listener and always there for anyone who needed a listening ear. Donna had a great laugh and was fun to be around.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at noon with visitation from 10 to noon at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois, with Pastor Wybren Oord officiating. Donna will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, Illinois. Donna was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Donna was loved by many and will be missed deeply.
