Dolores M. Zakrzewski (nee Wroblewski), age 89 of Lynwood, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, with her daughters by her side. She is survived by two daughters: Pamela Zochalski and Kimberly Zakrzewski; grandchildren: Tegan (Austin) Hadley, Kevin (Rachel) Elliott, Nina Zochalski and Amy Bennet; great grandchildren: Skylar and Keenan Lyda, Eve and Jade Elliott, and Baby Girl Hadley to join the family in a few months. Also surviving is her son-in-law: David Elliott. And she was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving  husband: Leonard Walter in 2005; beloved daughter, Debra Elliott in 2015; and brothers: Raymond, Richard, and Robert.

Friends are invited to visit with Dolores's family on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at All Souls Catholic Parish, 3010 Ridge Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM. Dolores will be entombed in a crypt in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, along with her husband Leonard. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Dolores's name to the American Cancer Society or ASPCA.

Dolores leaves behind a legacy of strength and love, having survived lung cancer for an incredible 20 years. A truly remarkable woman, she defied the odds and inspired everyone around her. Her professional life spanned three decades at the Illinois Central Railroad where she was known for her dedication and work ethic.

Outside of work, she found joy in macrame, and getting lost in the suspense of mystery novels. She savored the simple pleasures of good wine and the laughter at lively gatherings. Her love for parties and memorable vacations spoke to her adventurous spirit.

Above all, Dolores was cherished as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She touched countless lives with her warmth and affection, and her memory will forever be a treasure to those who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed.
