Obituary

Dolores A. Siwy, age 80 of Homer Glen, IL, formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 in her home at Victorian Village. Dolores is survived by her cousin and caregiver, Dr. Michelle (Kevin) Buikema and their sons Micah and Jonah; cousin and best friend, Anita (Ray) Kozlowski; cousin, Cindy (Marc) Thomas, godchild, Abigail (Drew) Lambert and their daughter, Lennon; brother, Chuck Siwy, and sister-in-law, Bari Siwy. Also surviving are her nephews: Patrick (Susan) Siwy and daughter Katie, Michael (Veronica) Siwy and daughters Emma and Cami, Jacob (Coraya) Siwy and son Aries, and Adam (Chad) Siwy; Aunt Marie (late Al) Kalemba, close friend, Marie (George) Grenchik, and a host of other loving cousins.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents: Anastasia and Walter Siwy and brother, Ronald Siwy.

Friends are invited to visit with Dolores's family on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 DIRECTLY at Jesus Shepherd of Souls Parish (formerly Our Lady of Knock), 501 163rd St., Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Dolores's name to Providence Life Services (www.providencelifeservices.com/giving), Northwest Indiana Parkinson's, or Share Foundation (sharefoundation.org/ways-to-give-2/).

Dolores was a graduate of Hammond Tech High School. She had a varied skill set which included 20 plus years at American National Bank as well as 18 years at Calumet Lumber, retiring in 2017. Dolores was a long-time member of St. Victor's Parish in Calumet City where she sang in the choir for many years. Following her diagnosis in 2013, she became active with Northwest Indiana Parkinson's, tirelessly volunteering her time over the years. Within the past year, Dolores faced health challenges and the Assisted Living at Victorian Village became her home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the love and outstanding care provided.
