Diane J. Del Rio, age 69, of Lynwood, IL passed away at home on April 3, 2024. She was the loving sister to Gayle Del Rio, George (Mary) Del Rio, Janet Del Rio, and Ray (Michelle) Del Rio. She was the loving aunt to George (Amy), Sam (Angie), Brittany (Thomas), Whitney, Dakota, Mackenzie, Stephanie, Ashley (Eddy), April (Brian), Leah, Vinnie, Frankie, Selena (Pedro), Chris (LeeAnna), Brandon, Amanda, and Jason (Mary). Cherished great aunt to Nick, Zach, Olivia, Sammy, Giuliana, Briella, Ariana, Freya, Maliya, and Nevaeh. Diane was also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins that will miss her dearly, especially Debbie, Dave, Connie, Dawn, Kenny, and Davey.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents George, and Helen (Ness) and her sister that we all miss and loved so much Lisa (Chris) Kross. Diane grew up in Jeffery Manor on the south side of Chicago and then at age 15 moved to Lynwood, IL. She graduated from Seton High School and Chicago State University where she excelled in Softball and basketball. Later on in life she added flag football and tug of war competitions to her sports activities.

Diane was part of the first female Chicago Firefighters graduating class and worked there for 16 years. The last 10 years of Diane's life she spent most of it on her John Deere lawnmower. She cut grass for herself and and the two houses next to her. She was on the lawn mower every day until the first snowfall. Now, she's looking down on us, shaking her head, because we're not cutting the grass correctly. Diane loved kids and enjoyed being with family and always brought laughter with her, she will surely be missed by everyone.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Diane on June 1, 2024 at the Schroeder Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing IL. From 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM with services immediately following with Deacon Gary Blue officiating.
