Diane Podkul
(Nee Szura)
Feb 24, 1947 — Feb 20, 2024
Lansing
Diane Podkul passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on February 24, 1947, in Lansing, IL where she spent her entire life.
Diane was married for 56 years to her loving husband Norm Podkul. Their marriage was a true Testament to their commitment and love for each other. Together they created a beautiful family. Diane is survived by her sons Bryan (Abby), David (Cheryl) and granddaughters Haley and Lauren, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life. Diane was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Emily (Szura), brother Tony and sister Sandy (Laszlo). She is survived by her sister Julie (Palermo), who will miss her dearly.
Diane was a woman of many passions. She found joy in taking care of her beautiful flowers and always made sure her home was adorned with festive decorations for every holiday. She had a playful side when playing rummy and loved trying her luck at the casinos, especially when it came to playing the slots. Diane had a sweet tooth and could never resist her favorite dessert, which was anything with chocolate.
Above all, Diane adored her furry companions. You could often find her outside taking care of her porch cats and inside with her cherished faithful companion, Sadie. Their presence brought her immense happiness and comfort throughout the years.
Diane's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, but she will always be remembered for her vibrant spirt and unwavering devotion to her family and furry friends.
A memorial will be held to celebrate Diane's life and honor her memory on June 8, 2024, at the Schroeder Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL with visitation beginning at 3:00 pm, and the service beginning at 4:00 pm with Father Patrick Lyons officiating. Family and friends are invited to the family's home afterwards to continue the remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the local animal shelter, Humane Indiana Shelter and Adoption Center in Munster, IN as Diane had a deep affection for all animals.
