Diana P.
Markez (Nee Schnabel)
Sep 12, 1936 — Jun 15, 2024
Lansing
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Diana Markez, who left this world on June 15, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on September 12, 1936, in Moline, IL to Maurice and Mary Schnabel, Diana was known for her warm heart, quick wit, and her fierce spirit.
Full of life and adventure, she was a force to be reckoned with, never hesitating to speak her mind. Diana had an incredible resilience, facing unimaginable losses throughout her life, but never losing her zest for living. Her love of family was always at the center of everything she did, and she passed that passion on to her children and grandchildren, who adored her deeply.
Diana's wisdom, love, and unshakeable spirit will continue to guide her family and friends as they navigate life without her physical presence. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she's waited so long to see.
Diana is survived by her daughter Debbie Rubio, who was preceded in death by her husband Frank. Grandchildren Christy DeMercedes, Kate (Patrick) McCann, Kevin (Megan) Bender, Amy (Shane) Van Vossen. Great-grandchildren Michael, Breanna, Colin, Brooklyn, Hunter, Hadley, Emily, Ayden, Leah, and Evryn. Great-great grandchild Kairo. Siblings Mike (Diana) Schnabel and Pamela (Barney) Stahl. Many cherished nieces and nephews.
Diana was married to Gust Klang for 8 years until his passing. She later married Paul Markez who passed away in 2005. Diana is also preceded in death by her children Denise and Greg Klang, and brother Don Schnabel.
A memorial service will be held for Diana on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church.
Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be forever missed. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral has been entrusted with the care and arrangements of Mrs. Markez. www.schroederlauer.com
