Charles Rickert age 87 of Dolton, IL. Passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Marlene (nee Bell), Sister Lois (nee McCann) (George). His children Deanna (nee Izydorek) (Robert), David (Lori). Grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan (Jamie), Sarah (Tom) and Kellie. Great grandchildren: Caden, Brooke, Anna, Elsie and Tayson. Along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Charles Sr and Evelyn (nee Clark), fond brother David and cherished sister Joan (nee Betsanes) (George).

Charlie worked for International Paper (Wabash Fiber Box Co.) as a maintenance mechanic for 49 years, having #1 seniority in the company. He enjoyed going to their cottage on Big Turkey Lake, relaxing and fishing with his son. His favorite hobbies were bowling and watching auto racing. He also relished being his son's Chief mechanic at Raceway Park when he was racing. His favorite vacation spot was Las Vegas with extended family. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 40 years.

Charlie was always tinkering with something, whether it was on the house or in the garden. And would give a helping hand to anyone. He also enjoyed relaxing with his cat Diamond Girl. They were inseparable. He was a wonderful family man that loved his wife, children and grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Friends can visit with Charlie's family on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 12 noon at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd. Lansing, IL., with a celebration of life immediately following with Deacon Jim Renwick officiating. Charlie will be laid to rest at Oakland Memory Lanes 15200 Lincoln Ave. Dolton, IL.
