She was born in Chicago to parents Edith and Timothy Donohue on 3 August 1934.
Mrs. Scahill was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years: Raymond M. Scahill, sister: Patricia O'Connell, and brother: Tom (Debbie) Donohue. She is survived by her sister: Maureen McDonnell, and by her six children: Michael (Nahid) Scahill, Kathleen (Galen) Croxton, Kevin Scahill, Maureen (Jeff) Mintzlaff, Raymond Scahill, and Mark (Rebecca) Scahill; 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Scahill's family in celebration of her blessed life, Saturday, February 21, from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL (708) 474-0024. She specifically welcomed friends and family, especially her grandchildren, to share memorable stories during the service.
In honor of our mother, Caryl Mae Scahill, we invite you to join us for dinner at her favorite restaurant, Teibels Family Restaurant (1775 US Highway 41, Schererville, IN 46375 (219) 865-2000) on February 21, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Dinner will be served family-style (all-you-can-eat) featuring chicken and walleye pike fillet.
Caryl Scahill first and foremost loved and honored her country (USA), and served her church and community, and cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her life's mission was to share the gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ and make Heaven crowded. She lived by the example of the following verse: "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13).
