Carl Leonard Smith, age 83 of Lynwood, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife: Lee Anne Smith (nee Houp); three children: Carla D. Smith, Angela M. (Guy) Fallen, and Carl J. Smith; five grandchildren: Myles Fallen, Erin Fallen, Leanna Smith, Carly Smith, and Lillian Smith; and one great grandchild: K Noah Fallen. Also surviving is his brother, James Smith and sister, Barbara Sanders.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents: James S. and Lillian M. (nee Luke) Smith; son: Cody J. Smith; brother: Harold Smith; brother-in-law: Albert Sanders, and his beloved Champion dog, Marco.

Friends are invited to meet with Carl's family on Wednesday, November 9 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 3500 Glenwood-Lansing Rd., Lansing, IL. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary, with Rev. Cal Aardsma officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at the church. Carl will be laid to rest in Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago, IL.

Carl honorably served our country in the US Marine Corp from 1957 – 1959. He had worked as a truck driver for the Chicago Transit Authority, the Chicago Daily News, Chicago Sun Times, Mr. Ben's Meats, Romano Brothers Beverage Co. and the American Kennel Club.
