Barbara J. Urtz-Etchoe (nee Downs), age 90 of Maricopa, AZ, passed away at her son's home in Arizona on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She is survived by her daughter: Christina (Bill) Bock; two sons: James (Nancy) Urtz and William (Emily) Urtz. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Lenny Urtz, Kristie Blankenship (Steve Meeter), Lisa (Joel) Lanting, Tim Urtz, Kevin (Jennifer) Urtz, Billy (Ila) Bock, Jami (Cameron) Howell, Jesi Urtz, Jimmy Urtz, Faith Urtz, Matthew (Miranda) Urtz, Joshua Urtz, Nathan Urtz, Teddy Urtz-Yu, and Rain Yu. Barbara also has many great grandchildren: Lenny (Savannah) Urtz, Angela Urtz, Eric Blankenship, Julia Blankenship, Chris Blankenship, Aiden and Collin Blankenship, Joel Lanting, Brooke (Chase) Bethay, Caleb Lanting, Lillian Lanting, Phillip Bock, Stephen Bock, and Jax and Phoebe Howell; and four great great grandchildren: Ava, Elijah, Enzo, Jaxen Urtz.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband: Leonard J. Urtz; sons: Robert, Leonard, and John; daughters: Marilyn Urtz and Barb Mathys; sisters: Faryl, Dorothy, Alice, Rosemary, and Audrey; brother: Don; and sister-in-law and best friend: Marilyn VanDuynn.
Friends are invited to visit with Barbara's family on Tuesday, September 10 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Her funeral service will begin at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Drew Brown officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband, Leonard Urtz, in Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Barbara's family.
Barbara been a factory worker, house cleaner and worked at Woolworths. She loved to play Bingo and Bunco. She was a care giver who was always there for everybody and you could always count on her. She supported her family and loved them with all her heart. She was devoted to her family and was a devote Christian.
