Barbara Novy, 87 of Lansing, Illinois passed away peacefully in her home. She is survived by her son Michael Cohen, daughter-in-law Judy Cohen and granddaughter Lindsay Cohen, her brother Kenneth A. Steinert and sister Susan Lang, and many loving nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth C. Steinert and Eva Trinowski, brother-in-law Jack Lange, sister-in-law Kimberly Steinert and nephew Kenneth Steinert, Jr.

Barbara worked in administration at Inland Steel and as a hostess at The Drake Hotel, both in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed shopping at Marshall Fields and was always impeccably dressed. She had a love for music and flower gardens that she shared with her beloved Joseph. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner and enjoyed visiting libraries and museums over the years. She adored children of all ages, caring for her birds and sitting on her patio waving to her neighbors. Her precious dog Moses gave her great joy and she talked about him often.

Barbara loved spending time with her family and celebrating birthdays and holidays with them. Every birthday was made special with a call serenade and a beautiful card. She referred to her nieces and nephews as her little birdies. She made friends wherever she went. She was a kind and loving woman with a generous heart.

The family will celebrate her life together in a private gathering. Anyone wishing to share their memories of Barbara or express their sympathy can do so by visiting her memory book.
