Barbara (Bobbie) Henry, age 95, of Orland Park, Illinois, passed away on December 5, 2024. She was born on December 11,1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Kelley R. Beach and Helen Maguire Beach.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her children: Thomas J. Henry, Jr, Carol (Rick) Loy, Larry (Marie) Henry, John (Heather) Henry, H. Jan (Jim) Arvesen, Keith (Kathleen) Henry and Barbara Maricich. She will also be deeply missed by her 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Barbara has been reunited with her parents, her beloved husband Thomas J. Henry, and her brothers, Kelley Beach and William Beach.
Barbara was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago where she met Tom, her future husband. She was a consummate learner of classical music, art and historical biographies. She loved the city of Chicago, its museums, art, culture, restaurants and the White Sox. She took art classes as a child at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Later in life she again took art classes, and her work was displayed in many art shows and galleries in the suburbs. Barbara loved her large family, her children being her motivation to enter the world of teaching. Upon retirement she continued her hobbies in art, classical music, reading and following the White Sox. She enjoyed traveling to Europe several times and to multiple locations around the United States.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024, at All Souls Church (St. Ann's Church) at 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with a church service immediately following. Barbara will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum in Alsip, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( https://www.alz.org ) or the American Cancer Society ( https://www.cancer.org/donate) be made in memory of Barbara Beach Henry.
