Nowakowski, Alphonse "Al, Archie" age 96, formerly of Lansing, IL passed away peacefully at the home he shared with his loving daughter and her family in Dunnellon, FL on April 22, 2025. Alphonse was born on January 25, 1929 to the late John and Valeria (nee Wankowski) Nowakowski. He is survived by his children John (longtime girlfriend Mary Meneghin) and Marie (Pablo) Ortiz; Grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua (Ashley) Perillo, Samuel Perillo, Joseph (Taralyn) Perillo, Rebecca (Jeremy) Collado, and Bryan Thesz Jr along with 10 great grandchildren. Alphonse is also survived by his beloved sister Sr. Marcella Nowakowski SSJ-TOSF. Fond uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Alphonse was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 61 years Suzanne "Susan, Sue" and siblings Clement (Virginia), Eric (Florence), Sylvester (Virginia), Dolores (Tom), Bernard (Clementine), Cyril (Dolores), Marcel (Guadalupe), Martha and Joseph.
Alphonse was a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran. Member of the Plumbers Union local 130 of Chicago for 69 years. Alphonse loved all those near and dear to his heart, but the one person he cherished the most was the woman he spent 61 tender and beautiful years with before her passing in 2020. After 5 long years apart, his heart became whole again as he is now reunited with the love of his life, his loving wife Suzanne "Susan, Sue". Alphonse will be remembered for his ability to make people laugh and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone around him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 9:00-12:00 DIRECTLY at All Souls Catholic Parish (St. Ann Catholic Church), 3010 Ridge Rd, Lansing IL with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following visitation. Interment to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated nurses and Aides at Marion County Hospice and Right at Home Health Services for the wonderful care they provided to Alphonse in his final months.
